English Tower
This tower was a gift from the people of England to the people of Argentina. It took 7 years to build (by English engineers and workers), and was finished in 1916. For a long time it was called "La Torre de los Ingleses" (The Tower of the English). That all changed in 1982, during the Falklands War (known to Argentines as "La Guerra de las Malvinas"). Because of animosity toward the English, the tower was renamed The Monumental Tower, and was the focus of vandals.
