Munich
I had been told that Bavaria has some of the nicest cities and people in Germany. Having never been to any northern German cities, I can't compare, but Linden and I had a great time in Munich. We found it to be beautiful and interesting. We didn't have a whole lot of time, so we opted for a walking tour to start off our visit. On our tour, we learned that most of Munich was bombed to bits in World War II, and later rebuilt. Most of the reconstruction was in the style of the original buildings, following the original architectural plans. Because they didn't have enough money to rebuild with the same materials, much of reconstruction was done to mimick the old style. For example, stone was replaced with cement with fake mortar lines. In many places, "bricks" were painted on to flat surfaces, because it was less expensive.
