Monument outside Residenz

Our walking tour guide told us that Hitler held one of his first public rallies here, and when he didn't disperse, as told by the police, it got out of hand. Fifteen of his followers were killed and then Hitler went to jail. While in jail he wrote Mien Kampf. When Hitler gained power, he put a plaque up in this momunent, in honor of the "The 15 Fallen", I believe it was. There was a Gestapo agent that, during the war, forced people to salute the plaque, or risk emprisonment. The residents of Munich started coming up the other side street, to avoid running into the Gestapo. Once Germany lost the war and Hitler was dead, the plaque was removed.
