Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower is the universal symbol of Paris, but that wasn't always the case. When it was first erected in 1889 by engineer Gustave Eiffel, the tower was derided for marring the Parisian skyline. With time, however, Parisians and the world came to appreciate its beauty.
