Lido
Paris is the original home of cabaret. That's where all the women with enormous feather headpieces came from, and where Vegas
got its ideas. The oldest cabaret in Paris is the Lido. There are also Crazy Horse (more modern) and the Moulin Rouge (more can-can). They all have one thing in common: extravagance. And lots of bare breasts. Okay, two things. We were steered
to see Lido instead of our first choice, Crazy Horse, because it was supposed to be of higher class. Plus, their new show,
called "Bonheur" ("Happiness"), was supposed to be the best yet. Unfortunately, the show wasn't all that we expected. It was indeed extravagant. The costumes were amazing, they had horses
on stage, an enormous water fountain that came out of the floor, a "jet" that delivers the host onto the stage, and beautiful
people everywhere. However, it was also extremely cheesy (numbers like "Sexy Chic!") with most of the performers poor dancers
and lip syncers. It was also expensive (between 100 to 80 Euros per person). Do you get champagne, however, and I recommend
drinking a lot of it. The show's a lot better that way. You were not supposed to take pictures (the opening voiceover said "You can not record Bonheur. You can not photograph Bonheur.
You can only dreeeeeeeeeam Bonheur!") but I snuck a few in.
