Real Sex Shoot

Real Sex Shoot, 2-2003

In 2002 (was it really that long ago?) my short film "Cookie Bare Theatre", a farsical porno about Teddy Grahams having sex, was shown in the SinCine Film Festival. The festival was started by my friend Matt Heindl and after seeing my film, he asked if I would enter it. Jessica Schram, a then assistant producer on HBO's Real Sex (and now friend), saw my short and asked if I would be interested in being part of an upcoming Real Sex episode featuring erotic filmmakers. I didn't consider myself an erotic filmmaker, but one could argue that I had made a porno, even if only in gest, so I accepted.

After meeting with the producer of the show, my film was entered in the amateur porn film festival "You Outta Be In Pictures", the focus of that episode. That festival is run by the very nice Kim Airs, who owns a "sexuality boutique" in Boston called "Grand Opening". In February of 2003, all the filmmakers featured in the show were taken up to Boston to film a fake festival just for the show. The setting was the Coolidge Theatre, and a good time was had by all. Here are pictures of some of the people I met. It was a little odd for me because I was one of the few people who did not appear naked in his/her film. As I talked to people (all who were very nice), I couldn't help but think "I just saw you naked."
