Parc Güell
Before going to Barcelona, my brother, who is an architect and who had been to Barcelona a few years before, told me that
we had to visit Parc Güell. His one word to describe it was 'sublime'. So, we dedicated an entire afternoon into the evening
to visit the parc. It indeed was sublime.
Antoni Gaud÷ designed and constructed this park between 1900-1914 on a piece of land generously purchased and donated by Gaudí's
benefactor, Eusebi Güell. You can learn more about it at http://urbanparks.pps.org/greatplaces/one?public_place_id=40
As a joke, when I returned to NY, I told my brother that I couldn't find Parc Güell. We asked around, and nobody had heard
of it. We did find, however, I told him, an amazing park called 'The Pepsico Pavilion', and went on to describe Parc Güell
in detail. When he discovered that I was joking, he nearly killed me. I guess it was like telling a fan of Paris that 'La
Tour Eiffel' is now called 'The Taco Bell Tower'.
